Temel Gaskets will attend the Mid America Trucking Show (MATS) at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky from March 31-April 2, 2016. We are excited to learn about new automotive technology, while sharing information about our quality product range and networking with industry professionals.

As the world’s largest annual heavy duty trucking industry event, the Mid America Trucking Show features over 1000 exhibitors, with 70,000 expected attendees. Temel Gaskets will attend the show as a guest, so we will not have a booth; however, if you would like to arrange a meeting, please contact us directly. Since this our second time attending the show, we have learned a few things from last year’s event, and would like to share some advice.

  1. Reserve Your Hotel In Advance

In order to secure a hotel that is located near the show, it is necessary to reserve your room at least 2-3 months in advance. With the high volume of attendees, rooms fill up quickly and convenient hotel choices are limited. Options for hotels can expand outside of Louisville, to Ohio and other nearby Kentucky locations. Lodging outside of Louisville gives attendees a chance to explore other areas and provides a break from the constant crowds in the heart of the show.

  1. Prepare for Cold Weather

Spring climate in Kentucky can be unpredictable. The average temperatures for March and April  range from highs reaching 69℉ to lows of 38℉. The temperature is likely to fluctuate rather significantly throughout the day; therefore, dressing in layers would be best. Due to its location near the Ohio river valley, Louisville is prone to flooding and heavy rain. An umbrella and water resistant footwear are helpful to pack for potentially rainy days. The spring weather also brings cool winds and breezy days. Wearing a jacket, dressing in layers, and keeping an umbrella nearby will ensure that you are prepared for any weather circumstance.

  1. Be Prepared for Transportation Delays

There are many transit options at the Mid America Trucking Show. Rideshare services, such as Uber and Lyft, offer a low-cost method of transportation. Some nearby hotels offer free shuttles to the Kentucky Exhibition Center. Local and regional visitors may choose to drive their personal vehicles and Louisville also has a wide range of available taxi services. Regardless of your transportation choice, it is essential to plan ahead for your journey. Traffic will be extremely congested. Getting out of the parking lot alone can take up to 45 minutes. Plan to arrive and leave during irregular hours to avoid the traffic and crowds.

  1. Bring a Map and Plan Your Route

Keeping track of the 1000+ exhibitors at the show can be challenging. With a total of 1.2 million square feet of event space, using a map will be essential to successfully navigating this venue. The  MATS event site offers a general floor plan of the event venue and more detailed maps for each section of the building. Plan ahead for which vendors you would like to see, and create a route that allows you to visit each company. It may be helpful to cover all vendors in one area of the building before moving on to the next section of the space. When planning, keep in mind the location and time of concerts, seminars, forums, and contests that you want to attend. Walking from one area of the building to another may take longer than expected, due to the high volume of attendees. Staying mindful of traffic in the Expo Center, having pre-planned route, and using an event center map should assure that you make it everywhere you want to visit.

The 2016 Mid America Trucking Show is poised to be an exciting, educational, and entertaining event, filled with many networking opportunities. If you plan to attend, we would be happy to arrange a meeting to discuss our new projects, and provide detailed information about our existing product lines. We look forward to potentially developing new business partnerships at the Mid America Trucking Show.
