2016 has proven to be a productive year for Temel Gaskets so far. Our team has traveled the United States and many international locations to expand our business opportunities and make new connections. In addition to our travels, the Temel Gaskets team works diligently in our US and Turkish offices and continues making great efforts to provide optimal client satisfaction.
The year began with goal setting, and planning the events we would attend and achievements we aimed to accomplish. In our article on goal setting, we used a combination of tips from Heidi Grant Halvorson and Six Sigma to create a plan of action for the year. We discussed goal setting techniques that can be applied to business goals and outside ambitions. Atlanta was overflowing with local automotive industry related events in early 2016. In January, Next Generation Manufacturing hosted a Young Professionals networking event and SAE Atlanta welcomed HondaJet Aircraft Company Representative, Samantha A. Magill PhD, as the featured speaker of their quarterly meeting. On February 3, Tunc Kip, from Temel Gaskets and Olivia Whitehurst, from Global Parts Distributors, hosted a YANG Regional Meet-Up with guest speaker Glenn Carver, VP of Business Development and DeltaWings Technologies, who spoke about making beneficial career moves and finding your passion.
In late January, Temel Gaskets participated in Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW) 2016 where attendees were presented with the latest product developments from the heavy duty industry. This was the first trade show we attended as an HDMA member. We also competed in the CSVN Pinewood Challenge, hosted by Minimizer, which attracted several attendees and provided a friendly environment for companies to compete in racing their originally designed trucks. In late February, Temel Gaskets USA attended the 4th Annual Formula South Invitational at Kennesaw State University, in Marietta, Georgia. The competition featured 10 collegiate Formula SAE teams from the across the Southeast region of the United States. We enjoyed watching the phases of competition and seeing the results of the impressive engineering work of students who will be the upcoming auto industry leaders.
In late March, Temel Gaskets participated in a meeting for the Turkish American Business Association (TABA), that focused on improving global trade networks. From March 31- April 2, Temel Gaskets traveled to Louisville, Kentucky for the Mid America Trucking show. As guests at the show, we had optimal mobility to travel around the event space and meet many new potential business partners. Temel Gaskets exhibited at INA PAACE Automechanika Mexico City from April 13-15, where we were able to meet with potential clients and share our latest product developments. On April 18, the president of SAE International visited Atlanta as the featured speaker of the Atlanta SAE meeting. As part of the Atlanta SAE Board, Tunc Kip, Temel Gaskets Director of Business, helped organize the meeting. In April, Tunc Kip also participated in a delegation visit to Michigan as part of TAYSAD, a Turkish automotive organization that promotes unity between government and manufacturers. While in Michigan,we were able to meet with Ford Motor Company, General Motors, attend business receptions, visit the SAE World Congress, and meet with influential automotive and economic development organizations. From May 8-10, we exhibited at Automechanika Dubai, where we found great success in increasing our business opportunities.
We look forward to continue working to produce the best gaskets and sealing solutions for our current and future clients. We invite you to view our high quality product lines and contact us with any questions. We cannot wait to see what the remainder of the year has in store and look forward to sharing our progress.
